A1 Chinese Radio: Him Law (羅仲謙) Fan Signing

HELLO EVERYONE! QUICK UPDATES:
  • The last month has been uneventful as always except for the fact that I celebrated my birthday on the 21st (my actual birthday is on the 24th) with my closest friends. We went for hotpot, and it was pretty awesome, but I'll talk about that another time and upload pictures too.
  • I just signed onto this blog to see that we got a lot of views/reads for my EXO post. Avid K-Pop fans out there, I'm guessing? Thank you so much for that. It's actually the most amount of views/reads on a post that this blog has, I think. Maybe I should just do more K-Pop related blog posts from now on. (Edit: That post is now at around 9k views?)
ONWARDS TO THE MAIN POINT OF THIS POST...

I'm going to try and be as eloquent and use the least amount of profanity as possible on the following description of my day yesterday. If I swear, please excuse me because I was about to cut a bitch yesterday.

Yesterday, my friend and I left our homes at 10:30 in the morning to hop on the bus for an hour long bus ride to Splendid China Mall to meet Him Law, a popular Hong Kong actor, for his autograph session. Let's start my rant here. Why did we leave at 10:30, and not earlier for an event like this? Why didn't we line up outside the mall two days ahead of time? Okay. So Him Law... ain't no Justin Bieber. He may be popular in Hong Kong, but outside of that little area, I don't think many people really knows who he is. Now, I would have left home earlier, but I had learned my lesson from last year. On June 29th/30th of last year, Raymond Wong (黃浩然) was invited to come to Canada (also by A1 Chinese Radio) for a fan signing. Being an avid fan of his work, I dragged my friend to leave early in the morning with me at 8:30AM. When we reach Splendid China Mall, no stores were open, and we actually ended up reaching there before the set-up crew for the event. This time though, we had a plan! We left at 10:30, got there around 11:40, ate lunch, and we stood in line at around 12:20. We were about the 20th people in line (as opposed to last year when we were probably 5th).

NO BIG DEAL, right? It's not like the people at the front of the line got any special perks. We knew that; we were here last year. NOPE. After waiting in line for almost 2 hours, a volunteer at the event started handing out posters for people to hand to Him Law to sign later. Awesome, right? They thought ahead this year! Last year, no one got posters until late into the event. When I had went to grab a poster last year, I actually got yelled at by some ignorant man telling me to not cut in line. WTF... I am standing in front of the person handing out posters and am in no way in a position that indicates that I was prepared to cut in line. But whatever. WHAT MATTERS IS... this year, they're handing out posters early! NOOOPE. They were only handing out approximately 10 posters, and only the people at the front of the line got them. I don't know how absolutely stupid these event planners were, but did you expect only 10 people to show up to this event? I mean, if only 10 people did, then you might as well not host the damn thing. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT THE FIRST 10 PEOPLE GOT POSTERS, I WOULD HAVE BEEN HERE EARLIER. UGH. Okay, fine. I'll let that slide. Him Law will just sign my mini autograph ticket! If you think that worked out, you are sorely mistaken. Why? Because they took back the mini autograph tickets. HOW CHEAP DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO COLLECT BACK THE TICKETS YOU HANDED OUT? IT WAS LITERALLY 1/20TH OF A STANDARD 8"x11" PIECE OF PAPER. But what did the hosts have to say about this? "Just go over to a newspaper stand nearby and buy the SingTao newspaper! The cover is a picture of Him Law!" What do you possibly benefit from that? It's not like you get no damn commission from the newspaper stands for sending people to buy your newspapers. So, I bought the newspaper. It's cool; it didn't cost that much anyways. What did I see when I got on stage for the signing? Mini-posters beside Him Law's arms in case you have nothing for him to sign on. If anger could kill, I swear that everyone at that mall would be dead except for Him Law and I.

Deep breathes, girl, deep breathes.

So, at the event, there were a lot of chairs that were surrounded by these gates that went around where people stood, as pictured below:

So you're thinking... that should fit almost everyone who's standing outside the gates, right? NO. Do you know who took all the seats? VIP members. Do you know where the VIP members are? Probably shopping around the mall, NOT IN LINE, because they already have guaranteed spots. You're exaggerating! How many VIP members can there possibly be! Enough to fill the entire seating area. So aside from getting posters, what benefits do the first few people gain? Absolutely nothing. You think you're coming here early so you can get great seats at the front. You'll be up close and personal with your favourite actor, but no. You're stuck still standing for another couple of hours as the event goes on. Oh, how old were these VIP fans? Average age range: 40s-60s. I mean, fan girling doesn't have a limit, I understand. But when the average age of everyone standing in line is 15-25, and the actor is 28... nah, I don't see anything wrong with that AT ALL! -rolls eyes- But it's fine. I'm not going to rant too much about that because I can't guarantee that I won't be like this when I'm middle-aged as well. All I want at this point is to just take a nice photo with Him Law. Screw the rest.

I'm going to take a moment out of this post to dedicate my annoyance to the people standing in front and behind me. So, two-girls-behind-me... YOU'RE LOUD. Let's put it this way. When I think you're loud, you must have serious issues. Because let's face it, as a Chiu Chow girl, it's in my damn blood to have the whole room hear my voice when I speak. But you know what, there's a time and place. If you scream for the people singing before the event, that's cool. If you scream when Him Law walks in, that's cool.  If you just got a fabulous picture with Him and you're screaming as you run off the stage, that's cool too. But to literally scream like crazy over a lame joke your friend told you, IN MY EAR, you best be glad I'm not one to pick fights with people. What I wanted to say to you? "Can you kindly not scream over the most idiotic of jokes? If I'm not allowed to judge you for your clearly special idea of what is humourous, then I sure as hell can judge you for you manners. Has your mother never taught you to use your indoor voice? There are hundreds of people waiting in line in a quiet mall. If you must laugh oh-so loudly, I'll even grant you that. SO LONG AS YOU DON'T DO IT IN MY HEAR." Then, they had to audacity to be pointing and whispering about me. I mean, go ahead and do that. I'm blogging about you anyways. But have the common courtesy to do what when I'm not looking right at you. Then, the two-girls-in-front-of-me-accompanied-by-one's-boyfriend, you guys are BIG. No, I don't mean "fat" because that would be offensive, right? Plus, who am I to be calling you that when I'm heavy myself? What I mean was... they were extremely tall, and had really broad backs. So if you could kindly stop stepping backwards into my face, I'd have appreciated you a lot more. What started out as a good space between us somehow turned into my face being pressed on their backs. Plus, with them being so tall, I felt like I was standing next to Mt. Everest and I swear the air pressure changed a bit. So, to the four people on either side of me, thank you so much for making yesterday that much more memorable.

Let me just insert some pictures as I cool myself down...

Fast forward to the actual moment when I get to "meet" Him Law...

Now, I use the term "meet" loosely. I guess that's even a stretch in itself too. I barely even got to "see" Him Law, and this is why.

Before I continue, let me mention four people to you. As I don't know their names, we'll call them:
  1. "Man in Black T-shirt (MIBT)"
  2. "Man in Yellow T-shirt (MIYT)"
  3. "Woman in Green T-shirt (WIGT)", and
  4. "Annoying Woman (AW)"
So as my friend and I were standing in line approaching the stage where Him Law was, we were planning on how we were going to take our picture with him. Keeping last year in mind, we knew MIBT was going to rush us, and our photo was going to end up horrible. I saw people hand their phones/cameras to their friends, and their friends would take the picture for them. It'd probably be a lot better than if MIYT took the photo. Let's all keep in mind that you're not allowed to go behind the stupid table and take a picture. No. You lean across a table and try your best to match your face's angle to Him Law's and take a good picture where you don't look as if you're both staring in different directions. This itself was just ridiculous. I mean, why are you rushing everyone so much? Everyone literally gets 3 seconds with Him before they drag you offstage. I WANT A GOOD GOD FORSAKEN PHOTO. I WILL GIVE UP HIS AUTOGRAPHED NEWSPAPER FOR IT, OK?

So as we're heading upstage, I told my friend to take my iPad (she forgot her camera) and take a photo in a "selfie" way. That way, we're in control of the camera and we know when to snap the photo so that it looks good. We even came up with a backup plan in case the "selfie" method didn't work. If we're not allowed to take the photo ourselves, we'd let each other take it. As we're walking up the stairs, WIGT saw my friend holding my iPad with the front-camera on, and told her that she's not allowed to take photos herself or with the help of me and that MIYT was the only person allowed to take photos. OK PUTA REALLY, EH? HE'S THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED? SO WAS I HALLUCINATING WHEN I SAW OTHER GIRLS TAKING PHOTOS OF THEIR FRIENDS WITHOUT THE HELP OF YOUR USELESS STAFF?

Ok fine. So you'll take my picture. I'll hold it in. My hair was neat, I was wearing a nice outfit, and I practiced my smile. Oh yeah, thank you for taking the picture as I was blinking by the way.

But it's not like I got to say anything, because AW was rushing me off stage before I even had to time to collect my autographed newspaper and iPad.

Let's just break this down into questions, ok?
  1. Why am I not allowed to take my own photo?
  2. Why am I not allowed to let my friend take my photo?
  3. Why were others allowed to let their friend take their photo but not me?
  4. Why are you incapable of taking the photo when my eyes were open?
  5. Why can't you let me collect my belongings before you rush me offstage?
  6. Do you think I'm deaf when you guys repeated over 60 times that everyone must immediately leave the stage after the autograph/picture?
  7. If so, are you insinuating that my friend and I, along with the rest of the people you rushed off stage, are somehow disabled? Hard of hearing, or perhaps we're not intelligent enough to comprehend your simple instructions?
  8. If you're going to insinuate that I'm disabled in some way, may I do the same? Are you blind? Can you not see that I'm grabbing my stuff and heading in the direction to get off stage?
and that would conclude my rant...
excuse me as I get annoyed over another problem in my life.

P.S: Update soon. Another K-pop related rant or should I upload photos of my uneventful life? Hmm...

Slightly longer update: Lazy days

Since my last post, I've been really stressed about getting my final marks. But since they've been all released, I've been feeling really relaxed and happy. My marks this semester weren't as good as they were last semester but I'm definitely not complaining, since they were a lot better than expected! Plus, I managed to miraculously pass both my accounting final and the ELPE. Woop woop!

Aside from checking my mark updates hourly, my time spent since school ended has been nothing but boring. My parents have recently developed an addiction to shopping at Sears. I've been going there every. single. day. I seriously think it's unhealthy the amount of money they've been spending at this damned store. But whatever, not like anything I say ever has any effect on them. At least I managed to get a couple pair of nice shoes from Sears and I got a cute jewellery tree too:

Other than constantly going out to Sears, I've spent the past week or two making a resume and looking online for jobs. Nothing has really appealed to me even though I'm really not in a place to be picky right now. I should also get my ass going on getting my driver's license but I've been in such a lazy rut recently and I have no motivation to do anything other than roll around in bed with my iPad.

I also recently went back and found some older TVB dramas that I haven't watched before and I started watching "Tiger Cubs" and OH. MY. GOD. IT'S SO GADDAMN GOOD. I CAN'T CONTROL MY FEELS.

I don't know what that video is? A trailer? A clip? Whatever it is, I hope it hooks you. If anyone has the time for an Asian drama, and you're thinking K-dramas are getting tiring, and you're interested in police-type dramas, watch this! It's so well done, and the cast is so damn hot. Seriously, nosebleed-worthy.

Since I've never really watched/finished a K-drama, I figured this would be the perfect time to do it. I've gotten recommendations before but I really wanted to watch "Wild Romance" mainly because Jessica Jung (of SNSD) was going to be in it. I watched the first two episodes and I wanted to just cry because the lead actress's acting was just........ I have no words.

The following is my opinion so please no hate, kthnx.

So the main girl in "Wild Romance" is Lee Si-Young. While she's beautiful and I'm sure she's an amazing model and boxer, I can't stand her acting in this drama. It's so over-dramatic and for lack of better terms... "scream-y". By Gods, my eardrums almost broke from the first two episodes. She spoke in such a way that was so loud that I swear the recording instruments can't even pick up her voice properly as they kind of... screeched? I don't know the tech terms so excuse my crappy explanations. Then, she keeps doing this thing where her eyes widen so damn much that I swear her eyeballs were going to fall out. Plus, she did this for no reason too... like gurl wutchu doin cuh i dun geh it??? That aside, her screaming-ness and eye-widening-issues lessened as the episodes went on and I kind of got used to her character and acting. I'm on episode 9 right now. If it starts up again, I wouldn't know.

Lee Dong-wook, on the other hand, the main dude of the drama, is awesome. I love his character and his acting, and everything about him is so charming and fun. I also love the guy who plays Manager Kim and Eun Jae's best friend, Dong Ah. Those two are so damn cute! I shipped them since the moment they laid eyes on each other.

At this point, I started the drama for Jessica, but I'm sticking around for Manager Kim and Dong Ah!

Dramas and Sears aside, I've also been pigging out since I got back to Toronto. I've been telling myself that I need to start getting fit once I'm back in Toronto, but that plan has gone to hell. Unless all the Sears trips count. But I have picked up taking walks after dinner whether it's to our local mall to just walk around, or to the nearby Price Choppers to buy some salad. Then, I'd take the long-way back home by walking through the park in my backyard.

So, without further ado, here's some pictures of food that I've had at uWaterloo and since I got back to Toronto:

Note: All photos are from my Instagram/taken from my phone.

Alikiya and I went to "sweet dreams tea shop" at Waterloo.
Alikiya and I went to Harvey's and the plaza's convenience store.
Alikiya and I went to Mr. Sushi.
A bit expensive but it tasted so sexy.
Parents and I went to First Markham Place.
HK Style breakfast?
First time having bibimbap. It was good, but not worth all the hype.
Maybe it's just the one I had. Any recommendations for a better place?
Is this a Vietnamese dish?
I just call it "Mei Wong" in Cantonese.
Went for sushi at "Oishi Sushi" with my friends.
Hmmm... what else do I have to say...

OH! I recently took up learning Korean. It's pretty crappy at the moment, but I learned the basic alphabet at least?

안녕하세요! 저는 디 입니다.

... I really don't know much phrases. So if you're Korean, tell me if I made any mistakes with those two lame little phrases? The bright side of all of this is I can read some Korean; I just have zero idea of what it actually means.

What else, what else...

Alikiya is currently in Florida right now! She'll be back in Toronto on the 10th, I believe. Her whole family decided to take a trip down to Disneyland? Girl better bring me back a wand from that Harry Potter Land place. I haven't seen her since April 20th? Since she left for Toronto after her exams. I've texted her a couple of times when I was bored at Sears so... pretty much everyday. We were supposed to go for sushi with the rest of our little group of friends but her parents didn't want her getting food poisoning two days before the trip?

Oh right! I've been putting my textbooks online for sale, so if anyone is interested in Politics, Business, etc... textbooks, check out my ads:
- Fundamentals of Financial and Managerial Accounting
- Introduction to Law in Canada
- Essentials of Comparative Politics
- Introduction to Business in North America
- THINK Sociology
I'm thinking of also putting my Psychology textbook up too...

k

i'm getting tired
creyy

bye

- Dee

p.s: i'll update when alikiya gets back and we can go on adventure mode with job hunting and visits to the park to see cherry blossoms :)

Girl Crushes

So those who know me in real life, or even read the small blurb on me on our tab about us, know that I love a lot of guys. I claim to be in love with every idol or actor out there. If you asked me to list out all my husbands, I can probably name 20 off the top of my head and still have way more to go. Jay Park, Junhyung, Zhang Yixing, Raymond Wong, Raymond Lam, Dongwoo, Yamashita Tomohisa, Yang Yoseob, and the list is pretty much never-ending...

A couple years ago, my friend really got into SNSD and said she like a girl crush on every member and I was kind of like... wat r u straight??? Mildly ignorant of me but if you don't know what a girl crush is, like me a couple years back, watch this:

... and now I totally know what a girl crush is and I below is a compilation of them. For all my girl crushes I'm gonna list, I'm on a level two when it comes to my love for them. Anyways, so while I often fangirl, blog about, and just obsess over my many many husbands, here's a random post about my girl crushes! Besides, posts about my oh-so-sad-life is getting boring.

1. NICOLE JUNG
Probably the biggest girl crush! I think she's absolutely amazing at everything she does and that's not my bias-for-her speaking. I love that she's the main dancer and main rapper for KARA so she already does 2/3 of the main tasks of every group. She can sing and she can speak fluent English! I think she's stunning and is the prettiest member of the group. When they were on "All The K-Pop" and those plastic surgeons said she was the least attractive member, I remember being so shocked since I thought she was the prettiest!

Is this song not the most beautiful thing that has ever graced your ears? My God, the MV was beautiful and so was Nicole and it just shows how much her fluency in Japanese has grown too!

Here are other reasons as to why Nicole is awesome:
Reason 1, Reason 2, Reason 3, Reason 4, Reason 5

omg gurl let me be you
you're like the epitome of perf in my eyes ok

2. JESSICA JUNG
Totally different Jung. Not related to Nicole Jung.

Major girl crush on Jessica! I think she's absolutely stunning and I have yet to see one picture of her where she even looked the slightest unappealing. She literally is the Ice Princess since she's just so flawless! I really admire her singing and I love that her voice is so distinct from the rest of SNSD since it's high yet somewhat raspy?? I love her sense of style and if I ever were to have an amazing body like hers, I'd totally imitate her choice in clothes because it's gorgeous.

credits to owner of photo.
- but srsly guys look at that
I love that she can rock any hairstyle and she'd still look beautiful. I especially loved her hair during "Run Devil Run" days and all hairstyles after that especially during their promotions in Japan.

omg she looks so damn badass wat is this
Other reasons why Jessica Jung is awesome:
Reason 1, Reason 2, Reason 3, Reason 4, Reason 5

3. LINDA CHUNG
Linda Chung is one of my most favourite TVB actresses and I follow every drama that she's been in. I think she's one of the best actresses in the business but it's a shame that she has yet to win "Best Actress" since the roles she gets often don't shine as much as other actresses in the category. I love that she's Canadian so I feel like she's so real and she's one of us. I think she's an amazing singer too and she's one of the few Canto-pop singers I follow.

The scene in this video was basically Miss Koo (Linda Chung) finding out that her boyfriend was a complete fake. Her character had a rough childhood growing up and so she's learned to be completely cold to everyone she meets, thus the name Miss. Koo (Cool). However, throughout the series, she slowly falls in love with a teacher (that guy you see in the clip) and opens up so much to him only to find out that he was actually an undercover police officer who only dated her to get information for his case. She came back from the police station after giving her statement and was confronted by him at her door. Everyone praised Linda for this scene since she put so much emotion into it and you can only cry along with her when you see her sprawled on her living room floor bawling.

Basically, I think Linda is such an inspiration. She went into the industry when she was around 19, competing as a pageant queen contestant and won! Shes played roles where she was a doctor, a police officer, a spoiled brat, a girl suffering from depression, the servant of a princess, and she's just been amazing. She's also a singer and if I one day, miraculously, become an actress in TVB, I want to be like Linda.

4. BUBZBEAUTY/LINDY TSANG
This might seem a bit random compared to the last three who are idols... but I think Bubz is really awesome. While I think Nicole, Jessica, and Linda are all so pretty, I think Bubz is a bit different. Not to say that I think Bubz looks like a gremlin or something, but she's not what I would label as "holy-shit-she-looks-like-Megan Fox". She's more beautiful-on-the-inside. Even though I don't wear makeup, I still follow her Youtube channel and watch all her videos. I admire her for being so positive and I think she seems like a genuinely fun person. I love her life; I'd love to be popular on Youtube, have two adorable puppies, be so artistic whether it be with crafts, painting, or applying makeup, have such a loving fiance, and live in Hong Kong!

After watching that video, I teared up because I thought it was so cute, beautiful, and inspiring. She's so hardworking and I really wish I have the balls one day to do what she did.

The thing with Bubz is that I find her so much more real. With people like Nicole or Jessica, it's kind of like, "I think you're absolutely stunning but let's be realistic... the chances of be becoming a K-Pop star one day is less than 0.001% and the chances of be having a 20" waste is even lower" But with Bubz, I find that she makes everything seem so possible and you can totally achieve your goals just like her!

What's also a plus is that I love that she speaks Cantonese like me and so I feel like I can relate a lot more to her. Plus, we have a lot of similarities too! (Hey, I'm a human alarm clock too!)

5. MILEY CYRUS
Ok, so I basically grew up watching Hannah Montana, and so I've been a big fan of Miley since I was like 12 years old. While I don't think she's the best actress and I don't think she's the best singer, I will, however, still watch all her movies and I will listen to all her albums. I think she's an amazing performer and I love that she's the epitome of confidence and bad-ass.

Miley is absolutely hilarious and I love her sense of humour. I love her fashion choices and I like that she's not the type who's all secretive. She's very open and straight-forward with a no-bullshit attitude and I totally admire that.

Two other reasons why Miley is bomb:
Reason 1: Her relationship with Ryan Seacrest always makes me laugh; then and now.
Reason 2: Her amazing confrontations with annoying paparazzi. Badass and assertive.

So much more but this post would never end. Bottom line is: I totally admire Miley's attitude and I think she's definitely one of the best artists.

So yeah. :)

Until next time! Peace x

Bonsoir tout le monde!

Pardon my random French. I'm cultured, I know.

This semester, I've been taking the FR 152 course (French) which is the level-up of FR 151 class that I took last semester. I have to say, I'm no longer dreading French lectures and tutorials. My new French prof is pretty bad with English but she's really friendly and she tries to explain the lessons really well. I really like her! My new French TA is... different from last semester. While I feel like she's much nicer, I have to admit... my TA from last semester was much better in his lessons and teaching. I felt like I learned much more from him, I guess? That took a lot of courage to say. I had my first French test yesterday. It felt a lot more difficult than last semester's tests and I can only hope I did well.

Other than French, my other classes are alright. Accounting is still as boring as it is in high school and I still hate it. I can already smell my failures in this class. Legal Studies is the same as it was last semester which is okay. Political Science is the worst class ever. I have absolutely no interest in this class whatsoever. Every time I'm in this class, I go on Tumblr or Twitter and maybe chat with friends on Skype. Recently, my roommate linked me to this blog: SAYA IN UNDERWORLD. It's filled with translations of Japanese horror stories and we all know those are the best ones. They're pretty slow with updates, I feel, but if you have time, definitely go through it if you're interested in scary things. I went through almost the entire blog in one period of Political Science. Haters gonna hate on my perfect studentness.

Lastly, I'm also taking Psychology. This, by far, is the most interesting class I'm in this semester. I've heard from other people that the amount of material covered is killer but I hope I can just pull through. I also need to manage my time better and participate in those research experiments for extra credit!

-transitions into another topic-

So lately, I've been a bit more active on Instagram and I think I may be slightly addicted. Especially every time I post a photo, I check back way too often to see if anyone has liked it. I'm shameless. Sigh.

Here's just two of my most recent photos I've uploaded to Instagram!

Taken from my bedroom window (my dorm at university).
My life is so glamorous, I know.

While I'm showing my Aldo backpack purchase, I also want to show everyone a bit of the stuff that I've bought these past few weeks. Before you judge me on buying so much, give me the benefit of the doubt! Check the prices I'll put under the picture of each item!

A navy blue sweater from Old Navy.
$5
Mint green blouse, also from Old Navy!
$12
Boots from American Eagle
(Okay, my only pair of boots broke, so...)
These were $20?
Patched Skinny Jeans from American Eagle
$15
Light Blue Skinny Jeans
$15?
(Forgot exact price)
These were the same boots from above but in a different colour.
They were $20 when I bought that first pair and when I went back,
they were selling it for $12.
Fashion scarf from Winners.
$12
Close-up of the pattern of the scarf!
Striped sweater from Old Navy
$7
Yes, I know I bought a lot! I promise not to buy anything for the next little while. But you gotta admit, everything was pretty damn cheap. I mean, the boots were originally at $40+. The mint green blouse was at $35ish, the American Eagle jeans were at $35-$45 and the last striped sweater was at $25 (approx)!

-awkwardly transitions into another topic-

I don't really have much else to say but I do want to show you guys some videos that I've found recently that were interesting or just captured my interest.

So apparently the medley above is an old video but I only found it recently. I thought it was really well done and the medley actually sounded like one song as opposed to those that sound choppy and pieced together. Plus, Victoria actually sounds nice here which is rare for me to say since I don't find her singing that amazing.

So the first time I heard of Wang Lee Hom was when Wongfu made his music video. Since then, I never paid much attention or really cared about his stuff. But since I'm getting into EXO-M, I was watching a clip of Xiumin/Chen (I forgot) performing this song and I thought it sounded really pretty.

So, ISAtv just released their newest "Step by Step" video and I've been looking forward to this episode for the longest time!

I'm by no means a dancer but something about dance is really interesting to me. I love watching K-Pop dance covers and I love the "Step by Step" series. I've watched all the episodes multiple times and I really admire all the dancers. If you guys have time, definitely watch this mini-series. Maybe you'll learn a dance or two!

Also, Wongfu released their newest short last night and I thought it was the cutest thing:

I absolutely love it when Ki Hong Lee is in Wongfu videos 'cause I think he's adorable. He's a good actor and he seems like a genuinely good person. I think he looks like one of my relatives but that's aside from the point. I didn't know who the girl was but she looked really pretty! I thought the short was simple and sweet and I'm so sure every one can relate to this. Not so much the ending but the "wow-that-guy/girl-is-cute" and "let-me-just-stare-at-them-all-day-and-fake-laugh-so-they-notice-me".

I just recently discovered Justkiddingnews (the Youtube channel) and I spent a whole night just going through some of the more interesting videos. This is one of the more recent ones and I thought the whole conspiracy theory was interesting. Take these things with a grain of salt but I figure it's just nice to see things from a different perspective. With this video, I'll admit... the news was interesting but the thing that interested me the most was Anthony Lee. I never knew who he was until I watched "When it Counts" where he played such a derp and then I see him on "Step by Step" and again, he was really funny and chill. When you watch this video, you notice how Anthony is a really bright person and I think that's really awesome when a person can have so much depth to them but you just don't really notice from first impressions/acting. It's probably not the best comparison, but I find him a bit like Tablo from Epik High? We all know how Tablo can be the weirdest, funniest guy. I think just his choice in usernames (blobyblo) is good enough proof of that. But on the other hand, he's a Stanford graduate and he's just a genius with his words and his music. Gap moe, guys, gap moe.

-slowly moves into another topic-

So, this month, I've finished two TVB dramas which were "Friendly Fire" and "Missing You". I think TVB started off the year well with these two dramas since they were both so well done! I definitely loved "Friendly Fire" more whether you compare them based on cast, story-line, and just the general drama as a whole but "Missing You" is good as well.

I really LOVED Sammy Leung's acting in "Friendly Fire" and for his first time acting in a drama, he was absolutely amazing! I think I pretty much speak for a lot of people when I say that while the plot was captivating, Sammy's acting and character was even more beautiful. Suddenly, "Friendly Fire" just topped a lot of my favourite TVB dramas and became my #1 most recommended series!

"Missing You", on the other hand, was more of a romantic-comedy type of drama. I loved the concept of it and the storyline was cute and really heartwarming. But, for me, action-packed dramas with undercover police, lawyers, and shootings will always be the best.

Sometimes, I feel like maybe I should make a separate blog just for my TVB feels. I could do like episode reviews or just spazz about my love for a character. Sigh. When time allows...

While we're on the topic of dramas, I spent a good amount of time last night trying to find the drama I watched when I was in China this summer. I finally found out that it was titled "Queen of SOP" or something like that. What the crap is an SOP anyways? Apparently, the cute guy from the drama was Zhang Han which was the same guy who played the Domyouji in the Chinese version of "Hana Yori Dango". I had watched this (Let's watch the Meteor Shower) in China too but never noticed they were the same guy......... Ah well, this summer, I'm dedicating myself to this drama! and finding a job... and reading more books... and having fun before I spend the next 4 years of my life studying/working... and yeah.

Also, because I've watched Taiwanese, HK, Japanese, and Mainland dramas, I feel like I should give K-dramas a try. I've watched half of "You're Beautiful" and given up and now I think I should try and watch some of those highly recommended ones. I heard "City Hunter", "Reply 1997", and "Ghost" were good but does anyone have other recommendations? I actually spent a good portion of time last night watching clips of Jessica in "Wild Romance". Is that any good? I'm really not interested in the whole "rich-guy-falls-in-love-with-poor-girl-but-can't-date-her-because-his-mom-says-she's-too-poor" storyline... well, unless it's really amazing.

ANYWAYS, I think I've went on for long enough...

P.S: That weird countdown thing on the side? That's all fishandchips and her obsession with books. If you guys think it looks whack, you can take it up with her. I guess it adds a bit of colour to our boring-looking blog though.

End of first semester + Winter Break!

QUICK NOTE The reason you guys haven't seen fishandchips around recently is because she thinks she's too good for this blog now. Just kidding, the real reason is because she's soooo busy but she's really not. Okay, I kid, really though... she's supposedly spending time with her family and I don't even know... MIA, I guess. But I'll take this as a chance to catch up to all of her posts she made while I was busy in China this summer!

SO YEAH ...

The end of my first semester at university is officially over!

After studying for five exams, I was finally set free on the 18th! One of my roommates and I left for Toronto on the morning of the 18th and left my other roommate behind. Sorry bro, but it's not our fault your exam schedule sucked!

We did make a note of leaving a bunch of stickies around our apartment to rub it in her face though!

If you're wondering... my roommate has like no classes so she does nothing all day
+ She loves to rub it in our face that her schedule is so "chill"
Thought this was a good comeback :)

"brb running around in Toronto"
this one was left in her cupboard where she keeps her Ramen ~
Instead of taking the express bus like we normally do, we caught the bus that took us around uptown Waterloo and it was really cute to see the streets. One day, if I manage to get some time, I definitely want to go up there again and visit all the cute little shops!

Anyways, now that I'm back in Toronto, I haven't been doing much other than going shopping with my parents everyday.

I saw these at Costco and thought they were adorable! :)
Didn't buy but if anyone wants to ... for me ~
I don't remember where I saw this but this was too funny!
Other than browsing around and taking pictures of cute things, I've been paranoid as hell over my grades. They've been slowly appearing online and gaaaah. I didn't do as hot as I hoped on my exams and so my marks dropped quite a bit from where they used to be. I currently have a 89 in Economics, 86 in French, 82 in Law and Business and... and now I'm waiting on my Sociology grade. If all goes well, my average will hopefully be around 85 or a bit higher. I guess 85 is ok considering my crap-ass studying habits... but next semester ... POKER FACE MAN. I AM GONNA GET 90s.

I hope.

Anyways, for some pre-boxing day shopping, I went to American Eagle and H&M and got myself three things. Well... I got myself one thing and my mom and dad got me the other two. I love sales at American Eagle during the Christmas times 'cause I feel that they give really good discounts during the holidays.

A peek into my closet and my ugly nails
BUT... here's the hoodie I got myself.
It was $20, so I feel like it's pretty good :)
American Eagle hoodies are pretty good quality ~

Excuse my mother's bra there.............. LOL.
But yes, I've been looking for a skull scarf for some time now and
BAM, I walked into H&M and it was there for only $8!
- mom's gift to me

Another item from American Eagle!
I don't actually have much jackets and the jackets I have are all
black and plain. I never had a pea coat-like jacket soo...
thank you daddy! :)

For boxing day, I'm thinking of heading to Old Navy cause there's some things that I've been eying.
Oddly enough, a lot of my friends aren't really into Old Navy 'cause they feel the style is a bit old and not as "trendy" as stuff from Forever 21 or Abercrombie. Personally, I feel that clothing pieces are what you make them. Just because something isn't as expensive or as brand-name, doesn't mean it isn't good. I feel like Old Navy stuff is really good quality and they're easy to accessorize with!

Anywho, I just finished watching Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles last night. I can't describe how I feel about the series. I felt like the story was okay and it's a good watch when you're bored BUT oh God, the characters are just so.... STUPID. Not one character in there was someone who's worth respecting 100%. I felt like everyone was just so so so DUMB.

To make up for it though, I started rewatching Hana Yori Dango which is easily one of my most favourite dramas of all time. Is it stupid to say that Hana Yori Dango is the reason I'm me today? If it wasn't for this drama, I wouldn't have gotten into NEWS (the first boy band I ever loved) and I wouldn't have slowly moved into K-Pop and ahh... Hana Yori Dango

I didn't think it was possible but I fell in love with Hanazawa Rui's character all over again! I'm still on episode 2 and this guy managed to grab my heart once more ~

Let me just do some quick screen caps for you guys so you can admire his character as well!

So I can't printscreen so I took some camera pics!

CAN WE ALL JUST TAKE A SECOND AND LOOK AT THIS?
CAN YOU SEE HOW HE LOOKS AT SHIZUKA?
WHAT A PRINCE.

OMG GUYS.
CRY.
SO BEAUTIFUL ;-;
... and he only gets hotter as the series goes on

omg and he's all protective too
adfghjkl
my heart can't contain these feels

Anyways, brb gonna finish watching this totally amazing series because my darling Hanazawa Rui awaits me!

AOD Awards + TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Results - my feels ♥

... if you guys haven't seen my fangirling yet, well then here it comes.

So, recently the AOD Awards in Malaysia and the TVB awards in Hong Kong were held. See... while I'm a huge K-Pop fan and all, I don't actually know too much about the whole industry and I only like a few groups here and there. But the one thing I pride myself on is how well I know my TVB dramas and the actors and actresses.

Anyways, I didn't watch the whole AOD Awards but I'm currently in the process of downloading it. I did see clips and bits of it though.

Ok, it's hard to fangirl with proper grammar so ...

- omg so the part when Raymond Lam won his award and he was thanking his "little sister" Kate Tsui and he was all "my character would have been nothing without you. thank you for having such good chemistry with me throughout the series. tonight, you are the niiiiice-est candidate" omgomg k that was so beautiful 'cause his character in the drama always said "niiiiice" and ahhh LOVE ♥♥♥

- and then when Tavia got best actress award and instead of calling Him Law (her boyfriend) on stage to accept the award with her, she called Raymond Lam onstage and he was so shy and kept giggling about it and then later he asked her "are you sure you don't wanna call Him on stage?" and she slapped him omg their relationship is so cute ♥

- andand I was so proud of Koo Ming Wah for winning his award for his character as So Gay. he's been in the industry for sooo long and now he finally got an award && it was so cute when he kept rambling on and on cause he thought he might never get a chance at another award again ;-;"

- but really my favourite moment of the entire night was when Tavia and Kenneth won cutest couple but Kenneth was still filming so he wasn't able to attend and so Tavia accepted the award on his behalf.. and she was giving a speech and suddenly Kenneth comes in from the far end of the room (?) and goes through the audience and walks on stage! and then he was saying how as long as her character exists, he'll always be by her side and afghjkl ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ship them sooo hard waaaay more than her and Him Law

k so onto the TVB awards! so the AOD awards were hosted in Malaysia and it's only been going on for 2-3 years? but this was TVB's 45th anniversary awards so this is pretty big!

so Mandy Wong won most improved artist (female)! I'm actually so pleased with this selection cause I've watched Mandy since she first started appearing in dramas and it's very clear that she's an amazing actress way better than the person who wins best female actress BUT my one problem was that.. I felt that she deserved so much more than just the "most improved" award. last year, they gave the award to Sire Ma who I felt like... was still such a n00b in the industry and her acting was very .. stiff and awkward. with Mandy, you can tell she's able to do so many different types of roles so perfectly! she's definitely one of my faves in TVB ♥

then Oscar Leung won most improved artist (male)! I'm pretty happy with this too but again, I found it unfortunate that he's been in TVB for 10 years or so and he only finally gets the "most improved" award.. last year, MC Jin got the award and I love Jin and all but he didn't deserve it... Jin was so new to TVB that he didn't even have any series to look back on and say that he "improved" from it .. but yes overall, so much love for Oscar and so happy one of my darlings got the award! ngl though, I thought Him would have gotten it...

then best actress in supporting role was Nancy Wu! THIS award again .. omg, k super duper happy about the results but again, this award came so late! Nancy deserved this for so many years and she's been improving so much in each role she takes on... I remember how anxious she was last year for the award but ended up not getting it.. but yes, so happy for her! I hope this means she'll start getting more lead roles now because she's sooo capable of them!

best actor in supporting role was to Koo Ming Wa! I think this was the same award he got in Malaysia during the AOD awards... I didn't really follow the voting for this award but I'm pretty pleased with the results.. I think he said he's worked for TVB for almost 20 years now and he finally gets an award so I'm glad he won :)

favourite female TV character went to Kate Tsui! I'm really happy with this because this award.. was exactly how I wanted it! from the times when Kate first debuted as an actress until a very recent past, I didn't really like her 'cause she had the whole I'm-better-than-you face and she came off as very rude but recently, she's really been growing on me especially after her role in "Lives of Omission".. then when she played Pat, a drug queen, omg she was so good .. I love how emotional she got and how she adfghjkl k she was just perfect.. so much feels when she started to cry on stage when she got the award. Kate was saying how she knows that a lot of people didn't like her when she first became an actress and she's been through so much and ahhhh .. ;_____; SO HAPPY

then Kenneth Ma got favourite male TV character for his role as Yat Kin and OMGOMGOMG k see I loved his character and all and his acting is superb which is why I wanted him to win the "best actor" award but this was good too! but if I had to choose, I'd say Kevin Cheng's Law Bak, Raymond Wong's Bat Dee, and Raymond Lam's Happy Sir was a lot better than Yat Kin's character.. but yes still, so happy for him because Kenneth is one of my favourite actors ♥♥♥

for the biggest awards of the night, Tavia Yeung got Best Actress (TVB Queen)! I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed because I really liked Myolie's and Kate's acting this year which is rare for me 'cause I used to hate them both so much but I feel like Tavia's acting has not improved at all over the past couple of years... she's always been the strong-independant-woman-with-a-soft-side and it gets really old, really fast. but I guess if we're talking about seniority, she goes before Kate and she does deserve it for her hard work.. so I'm cool with Tavia winning.

OK AND Best Actor (TVB King) went to Wayne Lai AND HERE IS WHERE I HAVE A PROBLEM OK. UHM WUT. k I like Wayne Lai and he is an amazing actor and all BUT THIS IS THE THIRD TIME HE GOT THE AWARD. THIRD, OK? I'm a very strong believer in give-others-a-chance and UGH. and just like Tavia, every time Wayne wins TVB King, it's always for the same damn character. the guy that's all JUSTICE, FIGHT FOR FREEDOM AND BLAH BLAH. ok that's important and all but again.. gets old very fast. this year was the year of Kenneth Ma/Raymond Lam, ok? I have been supporting those two since the beginning because they've shown soooo much growth in their acting and both of them portrayed such awesome characters this year .. this is just a deja vu of last year when we all know that Michael Tse was supposed to win but somehow.. it ended up in Kevin Cheng's hands. I MEAN.. ok fine Kevin Cheng's Law Bak role was funny and clever and he did it well.. but Kevin's won before and Michael's Laughing Gor was amazing... then there was that whole issue last year where they said that the TVB awards were rigged and that it was already decided that Kevin was going to win because they didn't want to loose him to the rival TV station and so the TVB King award was just a way to make him stay... THEN this year there's the whole issue with TVB not showing the voting results from netizens/citizens which makes the whole thing seem very sketchy again since the netizens/citizens are all very aware of Raymond Lam's fanbase which is HUGE.

ANYWAYS.. some other people that I really love didn't get awards but they looked beautiful so here are some pics of them:

Niki Chow (left) and Michelle Yim (right)
omg Niki's gown is so pretty.. ;-;
also, can anyone tell me how Michelle is like 50+ but still looks so young and fit?

Last year's TVB Queen and King!
Myolie's dress is weird but Kevin looked cute :)
I feel like it would have made more sense if they won this year as opposed to last year...

Fala Chen!
one of my favourite actresses!
she looked stunning that night
& apparently that dress was specially made.. only one in the world ;-;

k there's a lot of other pics, but I think I'm fangirl'd out.

ALL PICS FROM TUMBLR OR FROM: www.tvbnewsworld.blogspot.com
